Annie Rapstoff studied Art Criticism at Central St Martins School of Art in London and went on to study for an MA in Fine Art at Middlesex University. She is interested in responses and counter-responses between ‘place’ and the ‘human condition’. Annie considers relationships with other beings in the broadest sense, including animals and plants. She is currently exploring the possibilities of self-transformation, the interaction and impact on the nature of human intervention, ‘animism’ and what is heard, felt and experienced through the often unnoticed. Her current work focuses on birds, specifically their attitudes, behaviour and the myths humans have created about them. She works with the performing arts (performance), texts, book and video art. She has presented her work internationally and has received several grants from the Arts Council of England.
