Dr. Rich Blundell is an ecologist and philosopher working at the convergence of art, science, nature and culture. As the founder of the Oika movement, his research examines how transformation happens at the scales of person, place and planet. As a communicator, he tells a scientific story of the universe that includes art and human creativity as natural phenomena. His work is grounded in the principles of the science of ecology. As an observer of natural systems, he interprets new concepts by drawing on the deep natural histories of phenomena. He then extends this dynamic into human and cultural dimensions through artistic practice with artists from various disciplines to make the continuity of nature tangible, creating a relationship between artistic creation and ecology. Dr. Blundell has received numerous grants from international public foundations and awards from the global scientific community.
