Manthos Pantazis is a transhumant shepherd from a Sarakatsani family with a long tradition in mobile livestock farming. As a young man, he consciously chooses to continue a way of life deeply connected to the seasonal cycles of nature, flocks and mountainous landscapes, keeping alive one of the most important forms of intangible cultural heritage of the Greek countryside. He possesses profound experiential knowledge of the routes, places, and practices of transhumant pastoralism, which he generously shares by actively participating in EcoMuseum’s Zagori initiatives related to mobile livestock farming. Additionally, he has provided photographic and archival material, significantly contributing to the documentation, promotion, and preservation of related knowledge and memory, directly supporting the EcoMuseum’s work in this field.
