Ecomuseum Zagori, based in Ano Pedina Zagori, in the framework of its educational policy for the year 2020 – 2021, implemented the museum educational walk “Hear – Touch – Feel”, which is addressed to people with visual impairments and will take place in Zagori. The initiative was implemented with the generous support and sponsorship of the Public Benefit Foundation Ioannis S. Latsis and is under the auspices of the Region of Epirus.

Program

More specifically, the museum educational programme “Hear – Touch – Feel” is addressed to people with visual impairments, in the context of equal access to cultural and natural heritage.

The programme is an interpretive tour including an educational soundscape walk of the “in situ” cultural and natural landscapes of Zagori. Three stone bridges of Zagori (Kokkoros Bridge, Kalogeriko or Plakidas Bridge and the Mill Bridge in Kipi), easily accessible to visually impaired people, were chosen as the object of the research and action of the project. The 3D representations of the geomorphology of the route and the bridges will act as an enhancement, giving the opportunity through touch, to be perceived by the visually impaired people the large-scale monuments.

Implementing bodies of the Programme

Ecomuseum Zagori for the implementation of this program cooperated with the following institutions:

– The Service of Modern Monuments and Technical Works of Epirus, Northern Ionian and Western Macedonia that supervised the photogrammetric – photorealistic modeling and visualization of the representative bridges.

– The Innovation Center Fab-Lab of Ioannina that undertook the 3D printing of the bridges’ models using 3D printing technology.

– The Management Body of the North Pindos National Park that undertook the interpretive tour on environmental and biodiversity issues.
