Touch to See
The EcoMuseum Zagori had the pleasure to welcome on 30th May 2016, 26 students from the high school of Alcochete, Portugal. The students stayed in the area of Zagori until 27th June in the framework of the European exchange programme Erasmus+. The aim of the educational programme was to acquire knowledge about 3D design and printing of natural and cultural heritage elements as a means of learning and communication. More specifically, the training programme included topics on trail mapping, identification of natural and cultural heritage features in the field and their 3D visualisation using 3D printing technology, in collaboration with the P2P lab. The 3D printing of natural and cultural heritage features was used to provide a comprehensive tour for visually impaired people. This activity enhanced the active participation of students in open educational processes, enabled integrated access of visually impaired people to geo-cultural natural and cultural heritage elements, while strengthening communication between visually impaired and non-visually impaired people.
