Unique monuments of stone and soil
A mail is calling us on an adventure mission!
How does local history and the natural environment relate to architecture? What does a bridge really mean? In this programme we will walk along a trail that will lead us to two historic stone bridges of Zagori (Plakida Bridge and Mylos Bridge). Through the instructions and tests that Ms. Bridget Drywall, architect-engineer and recently an aunt, will give us, we will learn about the history, the importance of bridges then and now, but also their structure, about the society of craftsmen with their separate tools and secret language. In the end, we will build our own bridge the traditional way, mold, stones, mortar, and the lot! And if the weather is not good, that’s okay! We can see the bridges through a slide show and play all the games in the school yard and hallway. Building can’t wait!
